Media Celebrities Acting Foolish For Food Bank

During this annual event, local media celebrities from television, radio and print will compete, head to head, in order to collect food for the Food Bank and in hopes of winning the title of Best Shopper.

Teams are given a shopping list and a five minute time limit. They will race around the grocery store, trying to be the fastest at pulling selected food items off the shelves. They are expected to get the right type, brand and size that is listed in order for the item to count.

Awards are given for the first, second and third place teams, as well as a special “Wobbly Wheel” award, which is given to the team that comes in last place. In the end, there are no losers, as all the food collected during the Shopping Sweep will go to benefit families who struggle to keep enough food on the table.

Last year the April Food’s Day Media Celebrities Shopping Sweep in Battle Creek & Jackson collected  1,807 pounds of food for the Food Bank.
