The awards, hosted by
the Michigan Community Service Commission, honored 40 finalists
from a pool of 180 nominees.
Singh’s unflagging work as a volunteer at the U.S. Department of
Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the American Red Cross and
countless other aid groups earned him a Youth Volunteer Award of
Excellence.
Last week, Singh also won the Chili’s of Battle Creek $1,000
Continuing Education Scholarship for his community involvement.
James Hazel received a Gov. George Romney Lifetime Achievement
Award. Hazel currently volunteers at the Battle Creek Community
Foundation and has served at the United Way of Greater Battle
Creek, the Battle Creek Area Chamber of Commerce, the Shrine
Club of Battle Creek, the Rotary Club of Battle Creek and the
Food Bank of South Central Michigan.
Kellogg Co. received an Outstanding Corporate Citizenship Award
for its Kellogg Care$ program and its global philanthropic
contributions.
