Tax Deductible Donations to The Food Bank

Individuals, married couples and businesses may deduct up to half of their monetary donation to The Food Bank directly from the bottom line of the tax owed in Michigan. Individuals may claim a credit of up to $100 (on a donation of $200). Married couples filing jointly may claim up to $200 (on a donation of $400).

The Food Bank of South Central Michigan does not sell or otherwise disclose user information outside the organization. This policy has no exception. We do not sell or exchange your information with any other organization public, private, or non-profit.

To make a tax deductible contribution to alleviate hunger, complete our secured on-line  Individual Giving Form.

Where There's A Will There's A Way!

Would you like to ensure that your generosity will benefit generations to come? It's easy to make a gift bequest to benefit the Food Bank through your will, by providing a dollar amount, specific property, percentage of your estate, or the remainder.
All while reducing your estate taxes.

Did you know that if you sell appreciated stocks, you can lose up to 28% of your appreciation to taxes? Giving long-term held (one year) stock to the Food Bank provides you with a charitable deduction for the full value of the proceeds that the Food Bank receives. It's a smart way to avoid the capital gains tax when you sell stocks or mutual funds. If you'd like a brochure offering details on gifts of securities, please call, or e-mail us by clicking  here!
